A BOX OF
CORN DOGS
I’ve spent my career traveling across the globe, building business development and communications programs for enterprise organizations. And during that time, I've visited restaurants and bars in places from Montana to Vienna.
Join me as I experience new spots around the world, all algorithm-free.
A BOX OF
CORN DOGS
Hello.
There are few things worse than trying a new restaurant or bar, especially in a new city, and the experience doesn’t meet your expectations. And restaurants, bars and travel are similar to signing up for home internet service—you don’t know how good or bad it is until you’ve paid for it. “It’s fast” or “It’s good” just doesn’t cut it anymore.I want to deliver a better experience when discovering new spots than what’s out there, because that entire experience sucks today…
Increasing number of ads creating a shitty user experience
Lack of clarity when they are open
Difficult just trying to find their contact details
Don’t even get me started on using algorithms to “help”
I want to make it easy and fun to find new restaurants and bars, whether here in New York City or when I’m traveling within the U.S. and beyond. My dispatches are posted on Substack and sent by email. And since I’m an amateur photographer, videographer and podcaster, I’ll add my own media instead of it being stock-bought or computer generated.
What are your tastes?
I like the basics. If the tortilla is bad, the whole enchilada is bad. Literally.I like beer in a bottle and brand-name liquors.
Food: Mexican, Turkey burgers, Fruit, Everything bagels
Beer: Brooklyn Lager, Yuengling, Henry Weinhard and Budweiser
Cocktails: Hendricks & Tonic (no fruits or veggies)
Service: A check-in every ten-ish minutes
Other: Cold water in clean glasses, Dive bars, Clean restrooms
Who are you?
Hi. I'm Wil, an accomplished leader in marketing, communications and business development.I own a consulting company, The New Communicate, LLC where I help companies and teams better understand how to create memorable and profitable experiences through their products, services and solutions.I’ve spent my entire career traveling across the globe, building business development and communications programs for enterprise organizations. And during that time, I've visited restaurants and bars in places from Montana to Vienna.I launched A Box of Corn Dogs in 2024.
Is A Box of Corn Dogs free?
As of June 2024, A Box of Corn Dogs is free!In January 2025, I plan to do the following:
Weekly articles will be free for two weeks after publishing
After two weeks, the articles will go behind a paywall
While those articles will be for subscribers only, they will continue to be updated
If/When I visit a location again, I’ll provide more information, update the hours, more images, more videos, more audio, etc.
My assumption is that folks who are foodies or like to travel or like to eat out or like to try new bars are also willing to pay for very detailed and up-to-date information about these locations
I’ll likely put the subscription at $10/month (or $100/year), which seems like an amazing deal given the insights I provide will help you find an amazing experience or save you more than $100 on your next outing
Does that make sense?I’ll probably start discussing the pricing model update in August.(Today, the day I’m writing this, is July 23, 2024.)
